Squirrels

I can't, I can't, I can't understand these squirrels. They look like they are under cocaine or something. And they mess around the garden with all those nuts. It's going to be like a forest of nut trees in 30 years time.... (maybe.., maybe not.)
Anyhow, just had a veeery nice shower, eventually. Days are getting busier and busier. I am still not sure if they are longer or shorter. It does remind me that sensation I had when I was going to Melbourne, actually when I finally arrived there, it was eventually night. But that day, my day, lasted well more than 24 hours and there were way too many things in my memory. If I tried to remember the first thing I did when I woke up last time, then the second, then the one after until the day I eventually went to sleep in Melbourne, there were so many things to remember. So many.

Fish skeen is thin like paper, therefore is recyclable.

Or at least I thought so.

This is a tunnel.

It is 5 to 2pm here in South London. Another incindent in the tube, another 3 ones. Another tunnel to go through. Just wanted to say we are all alive and it looks like there shouldn't have been any casualties. I just hope the tunnel is not going to be too long.

Caffellatte

They say "latte" which means milk. I mean, in London (including the whole of G.L.A.) instead of saying "Latte Macchiato" they just say "latte". But it has nothing to do with the real "latte macchiato italicus". It is rather like the french "Cafe o Lait" (forgive my misspelling). Infact it is rather hot, way too hot, too much coffee and not enough milk. Say we were in Rome, I'd ask for a nice "latte macchiato freddo". In here, within the G.L.A., they'd say "wot?". Instead they'd cook this orribly burnt "latte", burning your lips, with loads of coffee (read "ciofeca") and even chocolate on the top (which I can't touch, because I am allergic).

In Penge, the Hardedge, there is a small small exception. They do it fine, expecially if you explain them how to do it properly (every time).

Saturday we went there with Gka and Rosemary, soon after merkatino. That wasn't bad.
Gotta go now. Speak about more things soonish.

Blogday

I am not sure. Probably I should have been celebrating some sort of blogday last May..
But I didnt.. therefore I do it now. This blog resisted the .com era.. and it is now more than 2 years old!! Ggggreat!!! Champagne for everybody... it's on me!
Come, drink and celebrate in Penge.. usual readers and newcomers are all invited.

Plus the blog has been visited almost 8400 times... apart from me, who else is reading those crazy lines? If you leave a signature on the guestbook I promise not to delete comments anymore (anyhow, it wasn't my fault.. simply the previous "comment-service-provider" didn't work anymore as it should..)

Work in progress

Not being sure how to start this post, I just start it. Back from the seaside... looks like we were far away somewhere, it didn't really look England.. and actually this country has got loads to offer still... Did I ever tell you? When I arrived here, more than 5 years ago, it was almost by chance that I ended up working in Soho. I was supposed to go and live in Alderney in the Channel Islands, for 6 months.. working for an offshore marketing firm, that would have been quite funny. Still, Alderney is a place where I'd like to go and stay for a while... you know, isolating a little bit.. far from noise and stuff. You never know, we may find the time to go there at some point. I said the same for many things I wanted to do in the last 4 or 5 months.. like going to a wedding I really cared for.. and I didn't manage.
Again it is a matter of time: managing to take care of your family, your friends, your job, the people around you. Everything.
I mean.. it is not impossible, but it is not easy either. I am kind of close.. kind of.. ;)

In the meantime, enjoy the never-ending story of Penge West train station, sill being fixed, still being vandalised.. still someone who doesn't want to pay the tickets. If it wasn't for that, I couldn't explain why first they broke the ticket machine, then the "permit-to-travel / money eater" machine.. and eventually the whole station was on fire...

Surrogate Band

My samurai master is leaving for a while and this makes me feel a little bit sad. I am going to miss him a lot and, guess what, I am not going to be the only one. The master has changed a lot since he met his other half. He is so changed that even West wouldn't be able to recognise him. Well, fair enough. I guess this picture is not going to be effective with him any more. Therefore I will be tempted to speak about London and how it is amazingly reacting to what happened. I mean: you know I always thought London was made by the foreigners, by people who were not born here. I still think so. Nonetheless, there is still something that, as an adopted Londoner (ok, as a non English Londoner), I had to learn: the great understatement. Never complain, never explain.. that sort of thing. The more reactive people are people like me, like her, like the Samurai, like Gka, like Rosemary and all the others. It is not that we are really scared at all, but surely tenser, surely more careful, more conscious, more aware. Ok, we were all kind of expecting this. I met this woman from Spain today, someone that I knew indirectly throgh my work. She was here covering a story about London and she told me: "people here were wondering about 'when', not about 'if'..." and it's obvious. But you should live here to have a better understanding.

"Siamo tutti londinesi" said the posters in Rome. I saw this on the news. But I don't think so. "Londinese" is who has been living this for a while, who has been soffering and enjoying the ups and the downs, the good and the band side of London and nonetheless is still here, doing something, doing what is needed to be done. It's not a class or something, it is maybe a state of mind, a way to approach life. The president of Tanzania, 3 days ago, reminded us: "If you are tired of London, you are tired of life". It is kind of true somehow. If you are a londoner, deep inside, you will never be bored of this. Wherever you'll go and live, you'll still miss it.

Con Certo........

No doubt, this was not the Live 8. Just the Cold Play on their own, just at walk distance from here, in Crystal Palace. A huge crowd was there, in the stadium. But the fun was outside.. around the stadium itself, on the hills, next to the Dinosaurs. Rosemary called us, actually she invited us the day before, she was there with Gka and LL and some other people enjoying the first concert, for free.. without the greesy and swetty crowd surrounding her. Then we came along the day after. Thix pix has been taken with my My-X 6 at the end of the concert. I got better ones taken with a Sony digital camera. I'll put'em on later. Meanwhile, yesterday, the emotion of the Live 8 and the great "gettogheter" with Waters.. what a great thing.. soon after seeing it I called BB, we spoke about it for half an hour or something.
